Your phone is probably the most powerful tool you own. 📱
Most of us use it to scroll, binge and reply to group chats. But if you’ve ever wondered how to earn money using your phone, the good news is that the same device can help you earn real money, often without spending a cent to start.
I’m not talking about “get rich quick” apps or survey sites that pay you 10 cents an hour. In this post, I’m sharing 9 easy ways to earn money using your phone that actually make sense, starting with the ones most people haven’t already heard a hundred times.
⚡ Quick comparison

| 2. Faceless Facebook page | $0 | Anyone with ideas |
| 3. Movie review Instagram page | $0 | Movie lovers |
| 4. YouTube Shorts channel | $0 | Storytellers |
| 5. Honest product reviews | $0 | Shoppers & reviewers |
| 6. Print-on-demand store | Low | Designers |
| 7. Social media for local businesses | $0 | Organized people |
| 8. Teach online | $0 | Anyone with a skill |
| 9. Sell your phone photos | $0 | Photo lovers |
1. Upcycle and Sell Things You Already Own 🎨

This is my favorite one, because it’s fun and almost free.
Look around your room. That plain white T-shirt, the old denim jacket, the empty glass jar, the boring notebook. With a little creativity, they can become something people happily pay for.
🖌️ How to start
- Find plain items you already own (shirts, tote bags, caps, mugs, frames, jars)
- Decorate them with paint, embroidery, patches, stickers or ribbons
- Take good photos with your phone in natural light
- List them on Etsy, Facebook Marketplace, Instagram or local selling groups
💡 My tip: Pick one style and stick with it (like pastel florals or minimal line art). A consistent look makes your page feel like a real brand, and people start following you for it.
2. Start a Faceless Facebook Page 📘

Most people think Facebook is “dead.” It isn’t. Facebook actively pushes Reels to people who don’t follow you yet, which means even a brand-new page can get seen.
And you don’t need to show your face. You can post tips, quotes, short explainer videos or relatable memes in one simple niche.
📈 How to start
- Create a free Facebook Page (it takes about 2 minutes)
- Choose one niche: money tips, study hacks, recipes, pets, movies, anything you enjoy
- Post consistently, even one Reel a day
- Once you qualify, apply for Facebook’s monetization tools, and use your page to promote your own products or affiliate links
Bonus idea: pages that share memes about the latest movies and shows can grow really fast, because people love tagging their friends. 🍿
3. Make a Movie Review Page on Instagram 🎬

If you’re the friend everyone asks “what should I watch tonight?”, this one is for you.
Create an Instagram page where you review movies, explain confusing endings, or share “5 movies like…” lists. People save and share this kind of content all the time.
🎥 How to make money from it
- Brand deals with streaming apps, snack brands or movie merch shops
- Affiliate links to movie books, posters or gadgets
- Promoting new releases for small filmmakers and studios once you have an audience
⚠️ Keep it safe: Talk to the camera, use your own voice, and only use short clips or official trailers. Posting full scenes can get your account flagged for copyright.
4. Start a YouTube Shorts Channel ▶️

This is a screenshot from my own YouTube channel. It got 725,493 views in just 28 days, and I filmed everything on my phone. 🙌
I’m sharing this not to show off, but to show you that it’s possible. YouTube Shorts are short vertical videos, and YouTube shows them to brand-new viewers every day.
🎯 How to start
- Pick a topic you could talk about for 100 videos
- Film short videos (under a minute) with a strong first 2 seconds
- Post regularly and look at which videos get the most views, then make more like those
- Once you meet the YouTube Partner Program requirements, you can earn from ads, plus brand deals and affiliate links
YouTube changes its requirements from time to time, so always check the latest rules in YouTube’s help center.
5. Review Products You Already Buy 📦

You already buy stuff online. Why not get paid for talking about it?
Film quick, honest reviews of things you use: a skincare product, a kitchen gadget, a phone accessory. Add an affiliate link (like Amazon’s affiliate program), and you earn a small commission when someone buys through it.
- ⭐ Be honest, including the bad parts. That’s what builds trust
- 📦 Once your audience grows, brands may send you free products to review
- 💵 Bigger accounts can also get paid for sponsored reviews
📢 Important: Always tell your audience when a link is an affiliate link or a post is sponsored. In the US and Canada, this is required by law, not just good manners (see the FTC’s guide for influencers).
6. Open a Print-on-Demand Store 👕

Print-on-demand means you sell your designs without buying any stock.
You create a design, put it on products like T-shirts, mugs or posters, and list them in your store. When someone orders, a print company like Printful or Printify prints it and ships it straight to your customer. You keep the difference.
- 🎨 Design on your phone with free apps like Canva
- 🛒 Sell on Etsy, Shopify or your own website
- 📲 Promote your designs on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
The secret? Niche designs sell better than generic ones. “Dog mom who loves coffee” beats “I love coffee.” ☕🐶
7. Manage Social Media for Local Businesses 📲

Lots of small businesses know they should be on Instagram and Facebook, but they’re too busy to do it. That’s where you come in.
Cafés, salons, gyms, bakeries and real estate agents often pay someone to post for them every week.
- 📅 Offer to plan and post 3 to 5 posts a week for a monthly fee
- 💬 Reply to comments and messages for them
- 🏡 Promote property listings for real estate agents for a flat fee per post
🏠 Quick note on real estate: In the US and Canada, you usually need a real estate license to earn a commission on a sale. So charge agents a flat promotion fee instead. It keeps everything legal and simple.
8. Teach What You Know Online 🎧

Are you good at math, English, coding, music or even a hobby like crochet? Someone out there wants to learn it.
Platforms like Preply, Wyzant and Varsity Tutors connect you with students, and you can teach right from your phone or laptop. Most take a cut of what you earn, so compare them before you sign up.
You can also skip the platforms and offer lessons to your own followers once you start growing a page.
9. Sell the Photos You Take on Your Phone 📸

Phone cameras are amazing now. If you love taking photos, you can upload them to stock photo sites like Shutterstock, Adobe Stock or Alamy.
Every time a business or blogger licenses your photo, you earn a small payment. One photo won’t make you rich, but hundreds of good photos can earn quietly in the background for years.
- 📷 Shoot everyday things businesses need: food, workspaces, nature, hands using phones
- 🏷️ Add clear titles and keywords so people can find them
- 🚫 Avoid logos, brand names and recognizable faces without permission

FAQs: How to Earn Money Using Your Phone ❓
These are the questions I get asked the most. If yours isn’t here, drop it in the comments and I’ll answer it.
Can I really earn money using only my phone?
Yes. Every idea in this post can be started with just a phone. You can film videos, design products, take photos, manage social media accounts and teach online classes from a smartphone.
A laptop can make some tasks faster later on, but it’s not something you need on day one. My own YouTube Shorts were filmed entirely on my phone.
How much money can I make from my phone?
Honestly, it depends on the method, your niche and how much time you put in. Some people earn a little extra pocket money each month. Others slowly build it into a full-time income over a year or two.
I’d be lying if I gave you one number. What I can tell you is this: the people who earn the most are almost always the ones who stayed consistent the longest.
Which way to earn money using my phone is fastest?
If you want money quickly, these usually pay out the fastest:
- 🎨 Upcycling and selling things you already own (#1), because you can list items today
- 📲 Managing social media for local businesses (#7), because one client can pay you every month
- 🎧 Teaching online (#8), because you get paid per lesson
Pages and channels (#2, #3 and #4) usually take longer to pay, but they can grow much bigger over time.
Do I need to spend money to get started?
Most of these ideas cost $0 to start. You already have the most important tool, your phone.
The only ones that might cost a little are upcycling (paint, patches, ribbons) and print-on-demand (some platforms charge small fees). Even then, you can start very small and grow as you earn.
Do I have to show my face online?
Not at all! A faceless Facebook page, a movie review page with voiceovers, print-on-demand, stock photos and social media management can all be done without ever showing your face.
Showing your face can help people trust you faster, but it’s completely optional. Do what feels comfortable.
Are “earn money” apps that pay you to play games or watch ads worth it?
In my experience, most of them pay very little for a lot of time. Some are even scams that never pay out.
That’s exactly why I didn’t include them here. I’d much rather you spend that time building a skill, a page or a small shop that can keep earning for you.
How do I get paid?
It depends on the platform. Etsy, YouTube, Facebook, stock photo sites and tutoring platforms usually pay out to your bank account or a service like PayPal. Local clients may pay you by bank transfer.
Always read each platform’s payout rules before you start, so there are no surprises.
Do I need to pay taxes on money I earn from my phone?
In most countries, yes. Money from side hustles usually counts as income, even when it’s small.
In the US and Canada, you may need to report it on your tax return. Keep a simple record of what you earn and spend, and check with a tax professional or your local tax agency if you’re unsure.
How long will it take before I earn my first dollar?
For selling items or finding a local client, it can happen within a few days or weeks. For pages and channels, it often takes a few months of steady posting.
My advice? Give one idea a real 30-day try before deciding if it works for you. Most people quit right before things start to click. 💪
This article is for educational purposes only. Earnings are never guaranteed and depend on your effort, niche and audience. Always follow each platform’s rules and your local laws.
